System Safety Engineer
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated System Safety Engineer to join us on the Land & Air Defense Systems (LADS) System Safety team in Tewksbury, MA.
As a Software Safety Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Analysis of engineering hardware, mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics assessing for fault tolerance, latent hazards, and safety requirements compliance.
- Work with system test and tactical operation and maintenance procedures to ensure the proper administrative system safety controls are in place.
- Work across all integrated product teams and lines to properly eliminate hazards or provide effective controls.
- Collaborating with Program Management and government approval authorities from program startup through production to demilitarization and disposal backgrounds.
This position is posted as ONSITE and will be based at Raytheon's Tewksbury, MA location.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically Requires: Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and a minimum 5 years of relevant engineering or statistics or data analysis experience. An advanced degree may account for additional years of experience as required for this position.
- Experience with: System Safety Engineering, System Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, or equivalent Safety Engineering
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with DoD System Safety Programs
- Strong written, verbal and presentation skills
- Strong interpersonal and project management skills, with the ability to manage a safety program and provide direction to supporting safety personnel
- Master's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
This position requires the ability to obtain a security clearance. The salary range for this role is $66,000 - $130,000. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
