General Summary: The Systems Engineer 3 (SE3) supports and administers the HMG computing environment. The Systems Engineer 3 takes daily direction from the Senior Systems Architect and reports to the CTO. The Systems Engineer 3 will work on strategic technologies for Microsoft, Citrix, and VMWare initiatives, and the underlying compute and storage area network (SAN) infrastructure. Works in a team environment to help design, document and administer the end-to-end compute environment.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support and maintenance of the Microsoft and Citrix environments
  • Support of the VMWare virtual environment
  • Support a Cisco based UCS elastic private compute cloud and public clouds as required
  • Designs and architects end user compute platforms
  • Support and maintenance of an enterprise class storage environment
  • Support and monitoring of backup and data protection environments
  • Perform analysis, capacity planning, and performance planning of all compute components
  • Perform daily monitoring of the compute environment
  • Secures the compute environment via patching, MFA, threat prevention, detection, and remediation
  • Identify and resolve performance issues in compute and virtualization environments
  • Support change control and change requests received for the compute environment
  • Research new technologies, recommend enhancements and configuration changes to improve and optimize the compute environment
  • Document policies and procedures to support the compute environment and participate in the design and ongoing refinement of procedures and policies (ITIL)
  • Interface with users, external vendors, and customers as necessary
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other Information Technology teams
  • Ability to work on a project team and lead large projects as necessary
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as required and participates in on-call rotation

Education/Experience/Knowledge:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent experience) in computer science or related field
  • 6+ years’ experience in Information Technology, preferably in a progressive healthcare environment

Knowledge (Strongly preferred):

  • Windows administration (AD, DNS, DHCP, SQL, Group Policy, PKI, networking, etc.)
  • Microsoft 365
  • Experience virtualizing high performance Windows systems
  • Microsoft Server and SQL platforms
  • VMWare ESXi/Vmotion/Virtual Center/HA/DRS/SRM
  • Citrix/CAG/Presentation Manager/NetScaler/Application Streaming
  • Cisco UCS, MDS and Data Center technologies
  • CrowdStrike EDR, Antivirus, DNS filtering, 2FA, SIEM and host-based security
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong team player – collaborates well with others
  • Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, and time-management skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize own work
  • Storage area network (SAN) administration
  • Data protection – Avamar, DD, VDP, Veeam (backup and recovery)
  • SCCM or similar provisioning platforms
  • PowerShell/Windows scripting
  • Converged and Hyperconverged infrastructures
  • Understanding of enterprise networking in a LAN/WAN environment
  • Understanding of data center design (power distribution, cabling, cooling)
  • Understanding of high availability, disaster recovery, business continuity, RTO, RPO
  • Microsoft, Citrix, Dell, CompTIA, and VMware certifications a plus
