You will work with a JLL team that manages the client portfolio. This is a union position - International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE Local 39)
Location: Milpitas, CA 95035
Schedule: On-site, Sunday-Thursday: 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM with a rotating on-call schedule for after-hour emergencies Reporting to: Chief Engineer
Type of Employment: Full-Time w/JLL + IUOE Local 39 benefits (health and welfare, pension plans, vacation, and sick leave) Compensation: $60.82 an hour + $1.75 shift premium (wage will increase on 9/1/25 to 63.72/hr)
Job Summary: As a Stationary Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to inspect, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems and equipment in commercial and industrial facilities. By applying your knowledge of electrical principles and practices, you will help ensure the safe and efficient operation of electrical systems, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity.
Duties and Responsibilities: Repair and Maintenance: Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on equipment systems, machinery, and equipment. This includes identifying and resolving any electrical faults, replacing faulty components, and conducting tests to assess system functionality.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose problems and determine appropriate solutions. Use specialized tools and testing equipment to identify malfunctions, analyze wiring diagrams, and trace circuits to locate faults.
Installation and Upgrades: Install and connect equipment, machinery, and systems according to blueprints, specifications, and relevant electrical codes. Assist with upgrading existing systems or installing new systems as required.
Safety Compliance: Ensure that all work is performed in compliance with applicable safety codes, regulations, and industry standards. Identify potential electrical hazards and take appropriate measures to eliminate or minimize risks.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including inspections, maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment history. Generate reports detailing findings, recommended actions, and equipment condition.
Collaboration: Work closely with other maintenance technicians, engineers, and contractors to identify and resolve electrical issues. Provide technical guidance and support to other team members as needed.
Emergency Response: Respond promptly to electrical emergencies, such as power outages or electrical system failures. Diagnose the cause, determine the appropriate remedial action, and implement repairs to restore normal operation.
Compliance with Policies and Procedures: Adhere to company policies, procedures, and guidelines related to electrical maintenance, safety, and equipment operation. Stay informed of industry best practices and technological advancements in electrical systems.
Qualifications and Skills: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an apprenticeship program or vocational training in electrical maintenance is preferred.
IUOE Local 39 union member or interest in membership
Valid electrician's license or certification as per local regulations and requirements.
Proven experience as a maintenance engineer or similar role in a commercial or industrial setting.
Ability to interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Effective communication skills to interact with team members, contractors, and clients.
