Job Description:
The vehicle application engineer will be the technical point of contact for our commercial based military vehicle platform from request for quote to vehicle delivery. This individual will be responsible for interpreting technical customer requirements, identifying scope of compliance, constructing vehicle configurations, and creating/executing to engineering project plans. This position provides a large array of technical exposure from all aspects of vehicle product development.
Responsibilities:
- Review customer requirements and complete internal/external compliance matrix response
- Configure vehicle specifications to meet our customer’s requirements and application needs
- Support the development of engineering basis of estimate (BOE)s, while leading the execution of that BOE when approved
- Manage the cross-functional product development team members to ensure they are completing the scope of work defined in the pre-contract phase BOE.
- Lead engineering POC for all on-contract programs for the commercial based military vehicle platform.
- Manage and evaluate KPIs of engineering BOEs from a cost, timing, and quality perspective.
- Integral team member supporting program management, business development, purchasing, manufacturing, finance, ILS, transportation, etc.
- Interaction with both US based and International customers, supporting them from an engineering perspective in all phases of the program
- Develop and maintain vehicle and sub-system level Bills of Material (BOM)
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or systems engineering
- Capable of managing and/or supporting vehicle programs from an engineering perspective
- Understanding of vehicle level systems and sub-systems, along with their interaction with one another
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong understanding of core engineering principles
- Experience with solving complex technical problems
- Effective communication skills across multiple disciplines and audiences
- Ability to perform hands-on tasks, if necessary, on heavy duty trucks
- Ability to travel approximately 5% of time
- US Citizen
Preferred Qualifications:
- +2 Years experience in the commercial and/or military heavy truck vehicle market
- Hands-on technical experience in or outside the workplace
- Familiarity with Siemens TeamCenter & NX
