Position: Sr. Video Engineer

Contract Rate: 55-65/hr on W2

Conversion Salary: 100K-120K

Length: 6 Month Contract to Hire

Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL

Onsite Requirements: Hybrid

Project Details:

Responsible for deploying, managing, maintaining, and optimizing video acquisition processes. Leads technical initiatives, mentors junior team members, and enhances Video Acquisition services. Video groomers (Optimizing network transmissions that span multiple distinct transmission channels, protocol or technologies.)

Must Haves:

  • Understanding of MPEG over IP Networks
  • Ability to troubleshoot or support break/fix issues.
  • Understanding of how SNMP traps works

Day to Day Responsibilities/Typical Day Look Like:

  • Reading, monitoring, and reviewing information related to video (MPEG).
  • Video/Audio how its preforming etc
  • Understand MPEG as a whole
  • Analyzing Streams
  • Understanding compressed video and audio sent over a network.
  • Full Understanding of multicast video and video workflow.
  • Ability to articulate technical issues and collaborate with other engineers.
  • Troubleshooting and discussing issues with IP Network Engineers.
  • Flexibility with schedule due to the smaller team size.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Oversee video acquisition from various sources.
  • Ensure high-quality video signals and conduct quality checks.
  • Manage video ingest systems for live and VOD content.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot acquisition feeds.
  • Maintain and configure video acquisition equipment.
  • Implement signal normalization and grooming techniques.
  • Design and implement scalable video acquisition solutions.
  • Install and configure satellite receivers and encoders.
  • Monitor IPTV services for audio/video quality.
  • Work with the network team to optimize video transport.
  • Plan and implement system upgrades.
  • Ensure content protection and compliance with agreements.
  • Conduct scheduled maintenance and quick-fix efforts.

Language Skills:

  • Read, analyze, and interpret information.
  • Respond to inquiries and complaints.
  • Present information to management.

Travel Requirements:

  • Potential travel as needed.

Essential Competencies:

  • Expertise in satellite, IP, and fiber video acquisition.
  • Understanding of video/audio codecs and digital broadcasting standards.
  • Proficiency in video signal processing and formats.
  • Managing IRDs, encoders, transcoders, and splicers.
  • Maintaining security and error protocols.
  • Familiarity with CDN technologies and IPTV solutions.
  • Monitoring tools and troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership.
  • Collaborate with other teams for seamless video service.
  • Provide Tier 3 support for video acquisition issues.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years in video acquisition, IPTV, or broadcast engineering.

Preferred Experience:

  • Background in IPTV headend operations and video distribution.
  • Hands-on experience with video ingest, encoding, and decoding.
  • Designing and managing video acquisition systems.
  • Experience with video encoding/transcoding and MPEG analysis.

Preferred Soft Skills:

  • Excellent communication and collaboration.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks.

Preferred Certifications:

  • SCTE DVEP, SCTE IPEP, LPIC-1, CCNA, AWS, Harmonic, or Ericsson-specific certifications.
